Installation
Traditionally
Traditionally a leaded light or stained glass panel is simply puttied into the timber or metal rebate and held in place with beading or putty, depending on material of opening. During installation the opening needs to be prepared so the surface is clean and sound and ready to receive the panel
Behind protective glazing
Panels can be installed behind a pane of protective laminate or toughened glass. The kind of glass used will often depend on the depth of the rebate in the opening. When installed behind protective glazing there is, in daylight, a difference in appearance from the exterior due to the reflective nature of glass although this is overcome at night when lit from behind and doesn't effect the appearance of the panel from the inside. to find out more about how they differ click here:
Within UPVC
It is possible for panels to be built with a special border lead to allow them to be encapsulated "floating" within a sealed UPVC unit.
